The Avett Brothers’ latest album I and Love and You is a blend of folk, country, bluegrass, rock and pop with a twist of punk mixed in. The band is made up of of brothers Scott on vocals, banjo and drums and Seth Avett on vocals, guitar, and drums along with Bob Crawford on vocals and bass.

Throughout the years, the Avett Brothers have built a following based on their rowdy and entertaining shows that entice the audience to participate and sing along. Before the release of I and Love and You, the brothers released five full-length albums and two EPs. Their self-titled debut EP in 2001 was shortly followed by the album Country Was. Albums that followed include Mignonette (2004), Four Thieves Gone (2006) and Emotionalism (2007).

The latest studio album, I and Love and You (2009), includes the soulful “January Wedding” and “Ten Thousand Words,” in addition to the song that inspired the album’s title “I and Love and You.” In October of 2010, the group released The Avett Brothers: Live Volume 3.

A band with improvisational tendencies and a laid-back California vibe, ALO (Animal Liberation Orchestra) became a hit on the jam band circuit while enjoying a close assocation with superstar Jack Johnson. Members Zach Gill (keyboards/vocals), Steve Adams (bass/vocals), and Dan Lebowitz (guitars/vocals) had all known one another since their days at Saratoga High School, but it wasn’t until their relocation to Santa Barbara that they decided to form a band. While studying at the University of California, the musicians were introduced to Jack Johnson and drummer David Brogan, the latter of whom joined ALO while they were using the name Django. Numerous name changes, the addition (and subtraction) of a horn section, a number of lineup changes following Brogan’s brief departure, and other problems plagued the band during its early years. Even though they were earning a loyal following around Santa Barbara, the band’s instability convinced them to move back to their hometown of Saratoga. A couple more drummers came through the ranks before Brogan returned in 2002, and ALO’s fortunes improved as the band began releasing material.

An EP, Time Expander, and the band’s debut album, Fly Between Falls, both appeared in 2005. Fly Between Falls was reissued a year later on Johnson’s own Brushfire label, coinciding with ALO’s high-profile tour as the opening act for the Dave Matthews Band. A new album, Roses & Clover, landed in 2007, with Man of the World arriving three years later.

Successful beyond their wildest dreams, the iconic comedy duo Cheech & Chong defined an era with their hilariously irreverent, satirical, counter-culture, no-holds-barred comedy routines. Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong’s phenomenal success began on the stand up comedy circuit which led to 9 hit comedy albums and 8 hit films, breaking box office records, shattering comedy album sales, garnering multiple Grammy nominations and mesmerizing fans for more than a decade.

Zac Brown was raised in Dahlonega, Ga. The former restaurant owner started his music career as a solo artist, but in 2004, he formed the Zac Brown Band with bassist John Hopkins and fiddler Jimmy De Martini; more recent additions are guitarist/organist Coy Bowles and drummer Chris Fryar. They average more than 200 shows a year and have sold more than 20,000 CDs independently. The Zac Brown Band has already landed support slots with Sugarland, ZZ Top, Travis Tritt, Etta James, Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Allman Brothers Band, Willie Nelson and BB King. Their third album, The Foundation (2008), is on the Live Nation label.

In 2010, Brown and his band were awarded with the Grammy for best new artist. Also in 2010, the live Pass the Jar, recorded at a performance at Atlanta’s Fox Theatre, was released. The studio follow-up to The Foundation, You Get What You Give, which featured new songs that the band honed on the road, debuted at No. 1 on the country chart in October that same year.

In 2011, the band and Jimmy Buffett shared the CMT performance of the year prize at the CMT Music Awards for their collaboration on Buffett’s “Margaritaville” on CMT Crossroads. And in June 2011, the band played shows in England and Scotland with the Kings of Leon.
